MURRAY RIVER PS EMMYLOU

Chug along the redgum-lined reaches of the Upper Murray River in a true paddle steamer.

Driven by a smokin’ 1906 wood-fired steam engine, the PS Emmylou takes up to 18 guests in comfort on multi-day journeys originating in the Port of Echuca.

Popular cruise options are 2, 3, 4 and 6 nights.

The 3-nighter cruises leisurely over 160km of the winding Murray. Stride up the gangway and your senses will be engaged. Feel the warmth of the old engine as the engineer stokes the boiler with redgum logs. Climb up to the wheelhouse for a chat with Skipper, or just relax and admire the river and views as PS Emmylou leaves the fast world in its gentle wake.

During the cruise you’ll go ashore at places with geographical, historical and cultural significance. Inspect Perricoota Station, dating from 1843. At St Anne’s Winery enjoy an owner-led cellar and barrel tastings tour. Swap to a small boat to be guided through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Barmah Forest, pointing out local flora and birdlife in the world’s longest strand of Red River Gum.

Emmylou’s riverbank ‘Grand Dining’ creates evenings to remember around a campfire under the night sky.

Altogether, the Emmylou gives an awesome Murray River experience.
